Why Reduce Chemical Toxins

There are many ways to go green.  Reducing the chemical toxins in your home from cleaning and personal care products is a significant one.

In May 2010 a report was submitted to President Obama from the President's Cancer Panel.  In its 2008-2009 annual report it detailed that carcinogen-causing agents resulting from environmental toxins may be "grossly underestimated".  In the report's opening letter to the President it states:

The true burden of environmentally induced cancer has been grossly underestimated. With nearly 80,000 chemicals on the market in the United States, many of which are used by millions of Americans in their daily lives and are un- or under-studied and largely unregulated, exposure to potential environmental carcinogens is widespread.

Additionally, the EPA conducted a 17-year study which indicated that chemical toxins in homes, schools and offices contribute to 50% of disease.  Women who work in the home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than women who work outside of the home.
